ABOUT THE VOICE STUDIO
Founded by Liz Harley in 1995, The Voice Studio aims to provide a comfortable
and supportive space in which anyone who has an interest in voice - speaking
or singing - may explore their vocal potential.
The ethos behind The Voice Studio is to 'facilitate, not dictate'.
A student can be absolutely new to singing or may be an experienced performer;
the aim is to provide the necessary tools to help them work towards their
individual goals in a relaxed, supportive and happy environment.
Liz welcomes singers and non-singers alike. In some cases people, who
claim to be 'non-singers', come to The Voice Studio believing
they can't sing, simply because 'someone' has told them
so. Our first challenge is to try and undo the confusion or inhibitions
they have learned over time and to reveal their true voice. Liz also understands
that some people want to sing purely for their own enjoyment and have
no wish to sing before an audience. The Voice Studio enables everyone
to develop their voice at their own level and pace.

GROUP SINGING
In addition to one-to-one voice training, Liz also runs small singing
groups for students. Liz recently introduced five ladies who all
had regular singing lessons at the Voice Studio, and helped them to
form a singing group which they named "The PODs". The five
ladies get together throughout the year to sing songs from musical theatre
and popular music purely for the pleasure of singing together in a small
ensemble. They had their first booked 'gig' in Sept
2006 and have been going strong ever since.

SINGERS' CLUB, THE BARN THEATRE, WELWYN GARDEN CITY
In January 2000 Liz, along with the help of some of her then singing
students, started 'Singers at the Barn'.
'Singers at the Barn' is a monthly event
- taking place the first Sunday in every month - where singers can book
to sing two songs with the accompaniment of a first rate professional
piano player and then perform to a small audience in a cabaret style
environment. The club is very popular and has a thriving following
both with singers and audience alike. However, new singers and
audience are always very welcome. For further details please contact
The Voice Studio. 'Singers at the Barn' also have a
website: http://www.barntheatre.co.uk/Singers.htm.
