SPEAKING VOICE AT THE VOICE STUDIO IN HERTFORDSHIRE

Liz Harley at The Voice Studio offers one-to-one bespoke training sessions on speaking voice.

Do you ever question how well your Speaking Voice works for you?

  • Could you improve upon the way you speak?
  • Do you feel your voice is letting you down?
  • Could it be your vocal quality is the reason you don't communicate as well as you would like?

Each of us relies on our voice every day of our lives: we present ourselves using our voice throughout our day-to-day living. The impact our voice has can affect the way we are perceived, assessed and judged.

Areas where vocal quality is particularly important are:

  • in the workplace
  • at interviews
  • presentations
  • public speaking
  • after-dinner speaking
  • the affect of regional accents
  • non-native British speakers
  • for class-room teachers/college lecturers
  • exam vivas
  • on the telephone
  • in social situations
  • theatre drama roles

. . . the list is endless.

Our speaking voice is unique to each of us and from time to time we may notice that it falls short of doing its job in the best way. I have designed a set of questions which may help you identify any areas which could be improved. If the answer is “yes” to any of the following, then voice training will help.

  1. Do people frequently ask you to repeat what you say?
  2. Do you sense your voice is not having the desired impact?
  3. Is your voice weak and does it tire easily?
  4. Would you like greater clarity, strength, audibility?
  5. Are you concerned about having a particular accent?
  6. Have you any speech impediments?
  7. Do you lack confidence generally and especially under “stressful situations”?
